MIGRANT SUPPORT WORKER
BACKGROUND:
Northside Family Resource Centre, since its establishment in **Apply
on the website**, has sought to respond to the needs of the local
community by providing opportunities to local people to support each
other and search for ways to improve the quality of life in the area.
The successful candidate will be employed by Northside Family Resource
Centre and will report to the Coordinator of Community and Family
Services and ultimately to the Voluntary Board of Management through
the CEO. The role is funded through the National Family Resource
Programme, administered by Tusla. Initially the contract is fixed term
for * months (with possibility of renewal
dependent upon funding). The role’s initial focus will be to develop
support services for the Ukrainian Community. With continued funding,
services will be expanded to include all migrant communities including
international protection applicants, those who have no legal status
and other migrant communities.
SOME OF THE KEY AREAS OF WORK INCLUDE:
* Prioritise the long-term mental health of those fleeing war.
* Supporting parents in their own social integration and
community-based education.
* Advocacy - support families to access supports and services and
receive all their rights and entitlements.
* Provide advice and direction on navigating systems.
* Signposting to the most suitable service, documenting gaps and
influencing the direction of resources.
* Ensure parents and families can provide for basic needs of the
family (food, clothing, heat etc.).
* Comply with Child Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
* To work with local parents/guardians in a variety of ways,
including group work, individual key-working, location-based work as
well as outreach work (in the home).
* To provide a one-to-one, non-judgemental, confidential support to
parents in line with the Centre’s work-plan.
